1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and forresTech ("Northgrid", "we", "us", "our") and apply to your use of the Northgrid app, website, APIs, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility and Account Requirements
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Northgrid.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
- You must provide accurate information and keep your account details current.
- Northgrid currently uses Sign in with Apple for authentication.
3. Account Security and Access
You are responsible for activity under your account and devices. Keep access to your Apple ID and device secure. We may suspend or restrict access if we detect abuse, security risk, or violations of these Terms.
4. License to Use the Service
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Northgrid for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, distribute, reverse engineer, or exploit the Service except as allowed by applicable law.
5. User Content and Your Rights
You retain ownership of the content you provide in Northgrid, including dream titles, notes, reflections, progress logs, and uploaded photos ("User Content").
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, store, reproduce, and display User Content only as needed to provide, secure, and improve the Service (for example, syncing data across your devices, generating AI breakdowns, and sending relevant notifications).
You represent that you have rights to submit your User Content and that it does not violate applicable laws or third-party rights.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Northgrid in any way that violates laws or regulations.
- Upload malicious code, abuse APIs, or attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls.
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, defraud, or harm others.
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically extract data from the Service without permission.
- Attempt to disrupt service availability, security, or infrastructure.
7. AI Features and Research Outputs
Northgrid includes AI-powered features (such as dream breakdowns, location suggestions, and Dream Scout research). AI output may be incomplete, incorrect, or outdated and is provided for informational support only. You remain responsible for your decisions and actions.
Northgrid is not a medical, mental health, legal, tax, or financial advisory service. Do not rely on AI output as professional advice.
8. Location and Notification Features
Premium features may use location checks to trigger contextual nudges. You control location and notification permissions through your device settings. Disabling permissions may limit some functionality.
You can enable or disable push notifications in-app and at the device level.
9. Premium Subscriptions and Billing
- Some Northgrid features require a paid subscription ("Premium").
- Purchases are processed through Apple App Store billing, and subscription status is synced with RevenueCat.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled through your Apple account settings before renewal.
- Pricing, taxes, trial availability, and billing cycles are shown in-app at purchase time.
- Refunds are handled by Apple and subject to Apple's policies and applicable law.
Apple App Store Additional Terms
- This agreement is between you and forresTech, not Apple.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Northgrid.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligations for Northgrid.
- Any claims relating to Northgrid (including product liability, legal compliance, or consumer claims) are between you and forresTech, not Apple.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce these Terms against you.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and retain data. By using Northgrid, you agree to that policy.
11. Third-Party Services
Northgrid relies on third-party services, including Apple (Sign in with Apple, APNs, Apple Maps), RevenueCat, and AI providers used to generate app content and research outputs. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
12. Intellectual Property
Northgrid, including software, trademarks, branding, content design, and related technology (excluding your User Content), is owned by forresTech or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.
13. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using Northgrid at any time and can delete your account in-app. We may suspend or terminate access if needed to protect users, maintain platform integrity, or enforce these Terms.
Upon account deletion, your personal data is removed according to our Privacy Policy and technical retention schedules.
14. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, or error-free operation.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, forresTech and its officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from or related to your use of Northgrid.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid to Northgrid in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $100.
16. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless forresTech from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party right.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence apply. You and forresTech agree that courts in England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes related to these Terms.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. We will post the updated Terms with a revised effective date. Continued use of Northgrid after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
